Summary: Quick read
Comment: This is a collection of stories and experiences Bourdain has written about over the years. Some of them are very good, others a little over the top or even slightly boring. He has toned down some of his jabs at other celebrity chefs, trying to give balance and to temper past comments. If only I think to deflect any potential criticism of hypocracy, given that he has become quite the celeb himself. Some of his rants in the past have come across to me as a bit self serving.

It's a fairly quick read and is worth it for most of the chapters. It really deserves three and a half stars, but I can only give it three or four, so I selected four. I actually got some useful insight out of it. Also Kitchen Confidential was a real hoot. He talks about a few other books that were written during the last century, of which I think were inspiration for Kitchen Confidential. I plan to try and find them.

Comment: I am reading Bone in the throat right now and have read 4 of his other books, I can't get enough I play the old episodes on tv while I'm reading so its kind of like he's reading to me...

Summary: Short Bits from Bourdain
Comment: I found this book somewhat enjoyable as a self-professed fan of the author. It is a collection of thoughts left out of Kitchen Confidential (or repeats of those thoughts at times) and experiences of his since hitting the road making travel shows.

It is no Kitchen Confidential, but an easy read and more great insights from Mr. Bourdain. Having seen most of his shows some of this is reduntant, but still quite enjoyable.

Summary: Entertaining as ever
Comment: Bourdain's perspective is always hysterical and fun to read. Yet interesting and insightful. Reminded me of a harsher version of kitchen confidential with a slightly sad feeling throughout. Or better yet a blend of kitchen confidential and a cook's tour. If you're a Bourdain fan, then you must read it. It's always great to hear his voice and stories.

Summary: Good read
Comment: As a book of short articles I can read this book at any time, finish the article and walk away either chuckling to myself or going "wow, that's true" Especially the article about obesity and eating habits.
